Improves Fuel Economy
The Power Jockey is a device to augment the power and capacity of the main HV battery with the power and charge from the 12 volt battery. This is useful when the capacity of the HV battery has deteriorated. In the graph below you can see that the power jockey smooths out the deep voltage drop in an older HV battery. Such a steep drop in voltage would quickly damage the cells in the battery and the vehicle would feel sluggish. The power jockey maintains the responsiveness of the HV system in short bursts.
